Tortoise of Apo Island

It was just a quick weekend getaway when I and husband went on an island escapade. It was last two years ago when we are still dating and achieving a bucket list of travel goals before we get married, to explore our native land and soon the world, but for now our target is our continent first, Asia.

Let go back to that quick and mini island escapade, Apo Island, located in the southeastern part of Negros Island, Philippines. Again, this is just a quick weekend getaway, travel hours would take 5 hours from the City of Cebu to the town of Zamboanguita where small boats ducks heading to the mini tortoise island.

My first impression was to see only 1-2 tortoise and 3 tortoise is such a luck already but as we approach to the island, there are 2 tortoise following our boat, we couldn’t help it and we jump off to see and swim with those resemblance of a dinosaur like creature, they were huge, larger than my arm holding together forming a circle. Luckily, we saw more than 6 of those lovely creatures, like the fishes, they too swim fast. Of all I thought turtle swim slow because of their heavy weight shelter at their back, but I was wrong, I couldn’t even catch them.
